BOTOX® Cosmetic

At Cosmetic Surgery of Philadelphia, all BOTOX® and RESTYLANE® treatments are personally performed by Dr. Dolsky. We do not allow nurses, assistants, or technicians to inject our patients. To ensure your complete safety and satisfaction with your procedure, you should not accept treatment by anyone but a board certified cosmetic plastic surgeon like Dr. Dolsky. He has the experience you can trust. In Philadelphia and around the globe, BOTOX® Cosmetic has been used for more than ten years as an effective way of reducing fine lines and wrinkles on the skin. The popularity of BOTOX® Cosmetic has been attributed to its dramatic, rapid results and minimal side effects. Results usually last from 4 to 6 months, at which time patients may return for subsequent treatments at our Philadelphia office. BOTOX® Cosmetic can be used with either Restylane® or Radiesse™ to enhance overall results.

Botox® is the trademarked name of Botulinum Toxin Type A, a purified toxin produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum. This protein toxin, injected in small doses, blocks nerve impulses, creating paralysis of the affected site and consequently reducing the appearance of frown lines, a furrowed brow or ‘crow’s feet’. Botox® has been purified and specially prepared for medical use and has been safely and effectively used for many years.

Crows Feet, Forehead Wrinkles, Neck Folds, Frown Lines

Wrinkles can be caused by varying factors including age and exposure to sun. One of the most significant contributing factors to wrinkles is repetitive facial contractures resulting in crows feet, frown lines and forehead wrinkles. Botox® is very effective in the treatment of wrinkles caused by these repetitive facial contractures.

The corrugator muscle, the muscle responsible for the frown line between the eyebrows, is often the site of Botox® injections. This frown line will begin to fade as the muscle is paralyzed and unable to contract. The treatment only takes a few minutes in Dr. Dolsky’s office and the Botox® will take effect in three to four days. Over three to four months the Botox® will begin to fade and the muscle action will begin to return. As the line begins to reappear, a repeat treatment is all that is needed to maintain results.

The side effects associate with Botox® are related to the local injection – there may be slight discomfort from the needle entering the skin and a slight chance of a bruise at the injection site. There have been no documented, permanent side effects from using Botox®.

Patients often choose to combine Botox® treatment with laser resurfacing, face lift or eyelid surgery to further enhance results.

NOTE: Botox® should only be injected by a physician trained in the use of the product, such as Dr. Dolsky.
